I’m sitting on my prier by myself with a glass of beer enjoying the calm evening. The kids are in bed and I'm at peace.
Wow! Funny a wonderful neighbor is out skiing and he just spotted me and thought he would try to ski up to my pier and splash me with his spray… he missed ;) On the other side of the lake I can hear my neighbor’s children arguing in the distance which I personally love as they sit by a camp fire. It's always cute when it's not your own kids :) The best part right now is listening to the gentle waves crash up on my beach shore. The night noises are just starting to pick up in the woods.
Night time is so peaceful to me and I really should just come and sit down at the pier each night but sometimes I get so caught up in getting the kids to bed and then catching up on work or picking up the house.
I'm in a funky mood because my oldest son goes off to football camp this coming week and then he has one week left at the lake before football practice begins in August. He will spend the month of August at home with his dad so he doesn't miss practices. My youngest son and I will stay at the lake by ourselves. I will cherish the 1-1 time and I hope the summer slows down. It will be strange not having both boys with me since we really have had a fun summer so far. I am so curious to see the dynamics between the two boys on the weekends when my husband and other son join us. My boys are always together yet like any sibling can play wonderfully for hours or beat on each other :)
I’ve just had a very action packed week and weekend filled with family and friends. Anyone who comes to the lake loves it and are at such peace. Without a doubt everyone says “there is just something about being at the lake that automatically calms you” and it’s so true. I love watching people naturally head to the end of the pier and sit in a chair and stare out into the lake. You can witness the weight of their shoulders being lifted and calmness enter. I always wonder what they are thinking when they are quiet, but having a moment to themselves.
I’m not really sure what to write. I have a million thoughts or emotions I could share but my mind wants to be blank at the moment & my body just needs to rest.
Keep enjoying your summer! Love the people in your life and have no regrets! Don’t over think anything and just accept everything as it happens. It’s that time of the night when those lovely Wisconsin mosquitos start coming out and buzzing and biting away, so I must pack it up and head inside! Of course some fireworks just started too.
See you on the water,
Julie
